About Suzanna

I live in a small town nestled in the deep rolling hills of Missouri. I’ve been happily married for nearly twenty years now and have three amazing children; they all remind me every day how much I love my life.

Since I was able to hold a crayon, I have loved art. I was the only child in kindergarten to have my art entered in a local contest. I won third place with a drawing of a horse against kids twice my age. That was only the beginning.

All through elementary school and high school, I continued to work in different medias of art, including watercolor, pottery, pencil sketching, and more.

Then came my senior year — when a new art teacher was hired at my school. He critiqued everything I did. I hated it. I snapped at him, argued with him, and was embarrassingly disrespectful to this man.
At the end of my senior year, my school had a huge awards banquet. When the art teacher stood on the stage and started talking about the student he was going to give the Overall Excellence in Art Award to, I did not think he was talking about me. I was stunned when he announced my name.

As he handed me the award, I asked him, “Are you crazy? I’ve been such a brat to you.” He responded, “But you’re still the most amazing artist of your age I’ve ever had the honor of teaching.”

It was a humbling experience, which allowed me to accept that I didn’t know everything and that there was so much more to learn. I thought I knew what I was doing back then, and I hated it when he critiqued me. However, little did I know I had absorbed everything he had told me. He made me a better artist for it.

I am now always of the mind that I have more to learn, can do better, and push myself to give my best to my clients.
